Kidneythieves Discography

Kidneythieves is an Industrial rock band led by Free Dominguez (vocals) and Bruce Somers (guitar/engineering). Also present in the band are Chris Schleyer (guitar), Christian Dorris (bass), and Sean Sellers (drums).

In 1998, they released their first single, "S+M (A Love Song)", as well as their first album, Trickster. They followed up their initial releases with the remix EP Phi in the Sky in 2001, and their second album Zerøspace in 2002. In 2004, they re-released Trickster as Trickstereprocess, which included completely digitally remastered tracks, 5 bonus tracks and a bonus DVD. After the release of Trickstereprocess, Free Dominguez went on to create an indie project while Bruce Somers created the band ShockNina. In January 2007, Free Dominguez sent out a newsletter via email stating that she and Bruce are collaborating once again on brand new Kidneythieves material. and a recent announcement on MySpace states that half of the new album and the cover artwork have been completed. As of mid-August 2008 Kidneythieves have announced their first live performance since their reincarnation as well as posted a new song "Dark Horse" on their MySpace page. As of 2008, Kidneythieves have sold over 100,000 units, making them a very successful independent musical effort. The upcoming release of Kidneythieves new album TryptOfanatic has been confirmed completed and is set to be released under a yet unknown major label.

I:Scintilla Discography

I:Scintilla is an industrial music band from Chicago, Illinois. The band is led by dynamic frontwoman Brittany Bindrim, whose words, melodies, and soaring vocals have resonated with a devoted and growing fanbase. Rounding out the lineup are Jim Cookas (guitar/programming), Vincent Grech (drums), and Brent Leitner (guitar/programming). Over the years the band has established a solid reputation as a live act with their high energy shows that feature a mix of rock and electronic elements.

I:Scintilla formed in 2003 and quickly established an affinity for pushing musical boundaries while maintaining pop sensibilities. The result was their self-released debut album, The Approach (2004). Through relentless promotion and a strong online presence, the group soon attracted attention from established indie labels and eventually signed with Alfa Matrix in early 2006. Their first set of releases included the EP Havestar (2006) and full-length album Optics (2007). Both efforts managed to chart on Germany's Deutsche Alternative Charts (DAC) with the former reaching #13 on the singles chart and the latter #6 on the albums chart. 2009 saw the release of the DAC-charting EP Prey On You that featured three new studio tracks and five club remixes.

Other notable accomplishments include festival appearances in the United States and Europe, most notably a 2007 performance at Germany's Wave Gotik Treffen, the world's largest dark arts and music festival. They have also been featured in nearly every alternative magazine in Germany and several in England, Belgium, and Italy. In 2008 the band hit the road with darkwave mainstays The Cruxshadows for an extensive three-month U.S. tour that brought their live show to every corner of the country.

Mankind Is Obsolete

When people who haven’t heard of Mankind is Obsolete ask for a description of what they sound like, things get tricky. The super short description would be industrial, since their sound fits well with bands like I:Scintilla, Kidneythieves, and Helalyn Flowers. Songs like “Parasite” and “Trapped Inside” spit, growl, and drag you through the cataclysmic heavy fallout world that this band thrives in.

But the second they’re placed in that category, lead singer Natasha Cox will belt out soft lilting vocals on a song like “Troubled Dreams” or the band will pull back their heavy exterior for a more acoustic close and personal song like “Fading” and suddenly that label falls apart.


This multifaceted sound is readily apparent on Mankind is Obsolete’s newest release entitled “Trapped Inside”. Produced by the immensely talented Silvia Massy and Jim Wood, “Trapped Inside” is the bands biggest accomplishment to date and also stands out as being their first fully collaborative cd.

In order to describe their sound it’s important to know the people that create the aural firework display that’s rises, falls, and explodes when you least expect it. Already mentioned, Natasha Cox is the incredibly versatile female front who co-founded the band in Los Angeles, CA in 2002 with her longtime friend and sonic drummer Jon Siren. Together, their amorphic sound is joined by keyboardist Brian DiDomenico, guitarist Scott Landes, and bassist Joe D’Ambra. In the spring of 2008 the band was rejoined by bassist Gordon Bash.


Five individuals fused together to form one cohesive vision. Each unique and each bringing with them an energy level that allows them to tour relentlessly yet still blow the doors off of any venue regardless of its size or location. Drop this band off in front of 200 people in a cornfield, or a sold out show in Arizona, or a flooded basement club in Detroit and they will tear down the walls (or corn stalks) and play as if it’s the last show they will ever get to play on Earth.

So who/what is Mankind Is Obsolete? Coldwave? Music for the Apocalypse? Electronic Destruction? Kidney Thieves meets Ministry meets Nine Inch Nails meets KMFDM meets Snake River Conspiracy meets etc…? Yes to all of the above. Their sound is a constantly shifting anomalous life form. If their art had a physical embodiment it would undoubtedly be some type of Transformer.


The second you think you know where this band is going, they will take a hard right through a modulated barricade and send your ears careening 600 feet off a sheer cliff of resonance. Whether you’re listening to their cd, reading about them online, or watching them in concert, make sure you thank whatever higher power you want for allowing a truly talented band like Mankind Is Obsolete to exist in an age of watered down radio friendly pop nonsense.

Justin Bieber

An old soul is the last thing you would expect to find inside Justin Bieber.  But all it takes is one listen to the 15 year-old soul-singing phenomenon to realize that he is light years ahead of his manufactured pop peers.

After posting dozens of homemade videos on YouTube in 2007, where the multi-talented Bieber put his impeccable spin on songs from artists like Usher, Ne-Yo and Stevie Wonder, Justin racked up over 10,000,000 views purely from word of mouth.

“I started singing about three years ago,” says the Canadian native who grew up an only child in Stratford, Ontario. “I entered a local singing competition called Stratford Idol. The other people in the competition had been taking singing lessons and had vocal coaches. I wasn’t taking it too seriously at the time, I would just sing around the house. I was only 12 and I got second place.”

In an effort to share his victory with his loved ones, Justin began posting his performance footage online. “I put my singing videos from the competition on YouTube so that my friends and family could watch them,” he says. “But it turned out that other people liked them and they started subscribing to them. That’s how my manager found me. He saw me on YouTube and contacted my family and now I’m signed!”

Seven months after Justin started posting his videos online, former So So Def marketing executive Scooter Braun flew the then 13-year old singer to Atlanta, GA to meet with his elite colleagues. As if Justin’s natural singing talent wasn’t enough to impress Scooter’s inner circle, Braun knew Bieber was also a self-taught musician who plays the drums, guitar, piano and trumpet.

“Right when we flew into Atlanta, Scooter drove us to the studio and Usher was there in the parking lot,” remembers Bieber. “That was my first time ever being out of Canada so I went up to him and was like, ‘Hey Usher, I love your songs, do you want me to sing you one?’ He was like, ‘No little buddy, just come inside, it’s cold out.’”

All it took was a short time online for Usher to realize he was in the company of a future superstar. “A week later Usher flew me back to Atlanta,” says Bieber. “I sang for him and his people and he really wanted to sign me then and there but I still had a meeting with Justin Timberlake who also wanted to sign me.  It turned out Usher’s deal was way better. He had L.A. Reid backing him up and Scooter had a lot of really good connections in Atlanta.  I always tease Usher now and remind him he how he blew me off the first time we met.”

In October of 2008, Justin Bieber officially signed to Island Records.  His debut album, My World is an intimate look into the mind of a budding young renaissance man. With production from star hit men like The Dream and Tricky Stewart who produced “Umbrella” for Rihanna and Beyonce’s latest smash, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” Justin has everything he needs to achieve pop supremacy.

His first single, “One Time” produced by Tricky, is about one of Justin’s favorite topics, puppy love.  Usher joins Justin on “First Dance” where the two share verses on a song that Bieber describes as, “A slow groovy song that people can dance to.” On the Midi-Mafia produced “Down to Earth” Justin digs deep to talk about growing up.  “Bigger” finds the teenaged singer maturing at a steady rate, while motivating his listeners to strive for their goals.

“I’m looking forward to influencing others in a positive way,” says Justin. “My message is you can do anything if you just put your mind to it. I grew up below the poverty line; I didn’t have as much as other people did.  I think it made me stronger as a person it built my character.  Now I have a 4.0 grade point average and I want to go to college and just become a better person.”

A virtually untapped well of natural artistic talent, Justin Bieber is primed to be a solid force in music for many years to come. “I think older people can appreciate my music because I really show my heart when I sing, and it’s not corny,” he says. “I think I can grow as an artist and my fans will grow with me.” And just think, he’s just getting started.

Back in 1995, the self-made musician and student of Electro-mechanical Engineering is hanging out in front of his computer, making random sounds and noises. All of a sudden he comes up with a formula which would later make him one of the most sought-after producers/DJs: By combining acid tunes from the underground with ethereal trance: "Yeah, that’s my kind of Tracid Track Sound – it’s a kind of trance that’s perfect for partying." Kai continues: " Even though I still can’t sing to this date, I am convinced that I have a feeling for emotional sections in my music." And there is more that distinguishes Kai from his colleagues: "To me, deep and intelligent vocals are really important." And this is indeed very rarely to be found in trance music.

Since 1995 it’s been that way. In the past the musical autodidact and electronic student, spend hours in front his computer playing with sounds. By doing that, he discovered his own formula which made him to the high demanded producer and DJ he is now: Trace + Acid = Tracid. “This is my very own Tracid Traxxx sound – trance music with high party energy” Kai explains. “Until today I can’t sing properly, but I have a strong feeling for the emotionality of music”. And there is another point that distinguishes Kai from others in the scene: “I set high value on ambitious lyrics”. An uncommon statement, especially in the club scene.

Kai Tracid has played a central role in the German "Dance Charts" since 1997. He had several #1 hits, was nominated for the "Viva Comet" (in 1998), and started to work more and more with Frank Farian, who has been a successful producer for a long time. A career that first started out at home with cheap equipment evolved into a first-range, hi-tech studio located near Frankfurt am Main.


Whereas it was mainly European people that listened to Kai Tracid’s dance hits throughout the last couple of years, there has been an increasing number of people asking for gigs further away from Germany: "Recently, I have been playing some 150 shows a year, and the majority of these are outside of Germany." Furthermore, he has sold more than one million records that carry his heavy-weight mix of acid trance (that’s why he calls himself tra-cid). Australia, England, USA, Japan, Italy, Russia, Argentina, Turkey, and Brasil – the world seems listen to this guy, even though he does not only play the big arenas (with 35,000 people) but also loves to deejay at small clubs.

Kai Tracid is flying by the fast lane. Worldwide. As a result of the annual DJ MAG voting, Kai Tracid was just announced to be one of the top 50 of worlds best DJs for 2005. While other DJs and Producer whine about the techno crises and complain about commercialising, Kai Tracid steps up. Weekends on the decks, weekdays in the studio. For inspiration, he just created some lush Acid Tracks for which he established the label “Acid Files”. This sub label is affiliated to Kai’s independent label “Tracid Traxxx” – one of Germany’s best running vinyl labels, founded in 1998.


Strangely enough, the athletic and handsome musician is rumored to be kind of shy. He doesn’t like people who pose too much. Being a non-smoker and staying drug free, he doesn’t even drink beer, dress weird or walk around with strange haircuts. "Whereas some of my colleagues had this, there has never been this kind of media-hype around my person. One reason for this might be the fact that I always remained the way I was before all this got started. It’s just me being who I am, you know?" he explains, and adds, "I have my very own type of style."

Two years ago, Kai made a statement concerning the success of Paul van Dyk: "That guy made it. At one point, I want to be where he’s at right now." And now – he has actually made it: "Yeah, now I am there – but I went my own way."

His own way, that’s important to him. Kai Tracid has his own point of view; not accepting people patronising him. Right now he’s getting new energy through yoga. “It’s important to take time for yourself, to find your own way and be self-aware”.


His own way – that’s what is important to Kai. Kai Tracid has is own view, his own grasp upon the world, and he won’t follow no rules. "I just can’t. That’s why I did not join the German army either." He is an obsessed paintball player – not only for the reason that it’s fun, but for the fact that people accept it and shake their heads at the same time. According to Kai, "there are icons in this scene. People who are just good. Next, there are people who are just very popular. And then – as a last category – there I am: Me, being the one who produces dope tracks."

And his success gives proof of this: There are some 50 artists on his label (which is called "Tracid Traxx"), and they are all constantly to be found in the dance charts. Kai has released some 100 of his own productions. People want to see more of him, they want him to deejay all over the planet, and they will also be able to watch him present his skills in US-production's film "Hey DJ!", in cinemas. So, what more do you want? What are his plans for the future?
